About James R. Magnuson
James Magnuson was born and raised in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. He attended Carleton College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2005. Mr. Magnuson participated in a variety of extracurricular activities at Carleton. He was a member of the Carleton Conservative Union, a member of the Carleton Chiefs hockey team, and a writer for the Observer, a political student newspaper. Mr. Magnuson spent a semester studying at Cambridge University in England in 2004, as part of a Carleton College Economics program. In 2008, Mr. Magnuson graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School with a J.D. Mr. Magnuson was Vice President of the Federalist Society at the University of Minnesota Law School, Vice President of the Christian Legal Society, and a member of the University of Minnesota Fighting Mondales hockey team. Mr. Magnuson passed the Minnesota bar, and was admitted to practice in Minnesota in October, 2008. Mr. Magnuson is also licensed in the Federal District of Minnesota. Mr. Magnuson has conducted a continuing legal education course on discovery procedures, and is a contributing author to an upcoming treatise on Minnesota Corporate Law.
