About Tona T. Dove
Tona T. Dove was born in Highland Park, Illinois and grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago where she graduated with honors from St. Louise de Marillac High School, an all girls private Catholic school.
In 1988, Mrs. Dove graduated with honors (cum laude) from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a B.A. in Communications. Mrs. Dove was also extensively involved in the dance program at Luther and has performed around the world with various dance companies.
Mrs. Dove attended law school at the University of Minnesota and graduated with a J.D. in 1992. After law school, Mrs. Dove began her legal career as an associate attorney, and then partner, with the law firm of Levander, Gillen & Miller, in South St. Paul, Minnesota. She also headed up the firm's Prosecution Department. Mrs. Dove has significant experience in all areas of trial practice and appellate practice before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
In 1994, Mrs. Dove resigned from her partnership at Levander to focus her energies on starting Paideia Academy, the first public charter school in the southern suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Mrs. Dove was the Startup Coordinator and acted as Director of the Academy for a period of time. Mrs. Dove was instrumental in building Paideia Academy from its inception and has worked to see it develop into a successful K-8 charter school. Mrs. Dove continues to act as School Board Chair.
Mrs. Dove joined Mohrman & Kaardal in 2007, with 12 years of legal experience behind her. Her practice focuses on all areas of litigation and appellate work.
Mrs. Dove is a past Vice Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association New Lawyers Section, past Co-Chair of the Minnesota Young Republicans, past Chairman of the John Adams Society, current member of the First Judicial District Ethics Committee and a Board Member of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federalist Society.
Mrs. Dove and her husband of 12 years, reside in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota with their two children. In her spare time, Mrs. Dove enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, volunteering at her church and in the community, participating on various non-profit boards, and continues to enjoy taking dance classes and performing professionally on occasion.
