Native American Law

Mohrman & Kaardal has participated for three years in complex federal court litigation involving the Minnesota Mdewakanton Dakota Oyate reservations at Shakopee, Prairie Island and Lower Sioux. In that period, the attorneys have worked with others to navigate the complex web of federal and state law. We have also represented clients on the settlement of the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa.
Sometimes the firm’s clients transact business with Native American tribes. This can bring state and federal law into contact with, or conflict with, Native American law. The firm’s lawyers have experience in resolving such situations.

The firm intends to continue to expand its practice in Native American law including representations of individuals, tribes and affiliated businesses.
