The Journal Times (Racine WI) covered the joint press conference of Wisconsin Voters Alliance, H.O.T. Government and Wisconsin General Assembly Elections and Campaigns Committee Chair Janel Brandtjen about filing a new election law data lawsuit against the City of Racine. The lawsuit is focused on the origins of the agreements for the Wisconsin 5 cities (Racine, Green Bay, Kenosha, Milwaukee and Madison) to take $8,800,000 of private money and its use to get-out-the-vote in their respective cities. Under federal and Wisconsin law, get-out-the-vote activities are assigned to campaigns, candidates and political organizations–not cities. Erick Kaardal is the plaintiffs’ attorney.
