Wisconsin Public Radio covered the filing of a new election law data lawsuit against the City of Racine, Wisconsin. WPR covered the joint press conference of Wisconsin Voters Alliance, H.O.T. Government and Wisconsin General Assembly Elections and Campaigns Committee Chair Janel Brandtjen about filing a new election law data lawsuit against the City of Racine. The lawsuit is focused on the origins of the agreements for the Wisconsin 5 cities (Racine, Green Bay, Kenosha, Milwaukee and Madison) to take $8,800,000 of private money and its use to get-out-the-vote in their respective cities. Under federal and Wisconsin law, get-out-the-vote activities are assigned to campaigns, candidates and political organizations–not cities. Erick Kaardal is the plaintiffs’ attorney.
